Professional Headshots & Team Portraits Case Study
The Situation
For 30 years, Dr. Bradley Kurgis has treated the Central Coast, providing medical dermatology, cosmetic treatments, and hair restoration to thousands of patients. But a dermatology practice sells trust before it sells anything else, and a website built on stock photography or a single bio-page headshot doesn't show a prospective patient who they're actually about to sit across from.
Dr. Kurgis needed office portraits and team images that could do more than one job at once: individual headshots polished enough for the website and LinkedIn, group shots that read as one established practice rather than a loose collection of providers, and editorial images that showed the actual services: injectables, laser treatments, hair restoration, being performed, not implied.
The Strategic Decision
This project came to us through a referral from marketing and brand strategist Dean Mignola, who was also on-site the day of the shoot, directing alongside me. The decisions were made together, on location: shooting headshots and groups at the Templeton office rather than in a studio, so every image doubled as proof this is a real, established practice, not a stand-in for one. A softbox and strobe controlled the light for individual portraits; group shots were taken in front of the building itself with speedlight fill, keeping the office visibly present rather than shooting against a blank backdrop.
Alongside the posed portraits, we photographed staff in the middle of real services, the same procedures listed on the practice's own website, so the copy and the imagery could finally sit next to each other and say the same thing.

Takeaway
Thirty years of expertise doesn't come across on a website through a service list alone; it comes across in the faces of the people a patient is about to trust with their skin and hair. These office portraits give the practice exactly that: a team that looks as established and capable in photographs as they are in the exam room.
